Yin and Yang are one of the most fundamental concepts in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). When referring to a type of energy, Yin is more restorative and Yang is very active. During the spring and summer months, when we tend to push ourselves and go, go, go, Yang is the predominate energy. To stay in balance, cultivating Yin, or restoring our energy reserves is important to maintaining our health and well-being.
With this in mind, I've created a restorative and restful massage that includes Reiki energy work. During this massage you remain fully clothed while I use gentle rocking, slow compression, and joint mobilization to reset your nervous system. Thirty minutes of Reiki is included with the massage which ends with a deeply relaxing head massage. Refill your energy reserves and get back outside this summer.
If you've never heard of Reiki, it is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki practitioners go through an attunement process which has three levels. During the last year I received level 1 and 2 attunements, which allows me to give Reiki to clients.
